Wisconsin Valley
Improvement Company

Wisconsin Valley Improvement Company (WVIC) is a private corporation that operates 21 water storage reservoirs to regulate a uniform flow in the Wisconsin River. We also help coordinate the operation of the 25 hydroelectric plants on the Wisconsin River that are owned and operated by ten utilities or paper companies. We are unique because no other company coordinates an entire river system from one central location for several separate waterpower users, all of which pay for our operation. The benefits of our operation include:

  • Increased hydroelectric generation

  • Recreation

  • Flood control

  • Water Conservation
  • Low flow augmentation &
    water quality improvement
